The University of Chichester can trace its origins back to 1839, which marks it out as one of the older institutions of higher education in the country.
Bognor Regis has two secondary schools, while Waterlooville has five secondary schools and two colleges.
Petersfield has one state secondary school and many independent schools in and around the town including Bedales and Churchers College.
And Gosport has three secondary schools in the borough – one has a sixth form and there is also a sixth-form college close to the town centre.
