A Sustainable Solent

Business Solent is committed to the region being recognised and promoted as THE place to work, invest, study, live and enjoy. As such we see a critical role for business in building this vision.

The local community is of concern to forward thinking business leader as they recognize that sustainable economic prosperity can only be built upon a stable and equitable society.  It’s also clear that we need a high quality social, built, and natural environment to attract and keep the best talent.

The low-carbon economy, adaptation to climate change, and resilience to resource depletion have made the global environment a powerful business driver. This has also created opportunities that could secure long-term economic prosperity for the region.

Helping business maintain this local focus together with global awareness will help create a prosperous and sustainable Solent region. Business Solent intends to play a key role in connecting business leaders to the people and resources they need to engage in this agenda.

To this end we are forming a Sustainable Solent Strategic Board who are organizing a series of events and a range of services for Solent Champions. This work is evolving at a rapid pace and so information will be updated on this page on a regular basis.

Events:

Business Solent Suppliers Showcase 2012 - Using local suppliers is an important way in which to support a more sustainable local economy and often helps improve your environmental impact. To support this Business Solent has organised an opportunity for local businesses to explore and sample a wide range of local suppliers at this highly successful annual event.

Three sustainability briefings across 2012 each focussed in turn on social impact, environmental performance, and supporting the local economy. Attendance at these events will be restricted to limited number of business leaders and key partners. To register your interest, please contact us.

NEWSLETTER – A regular section in the Business Solent newsletter will highlight local good practice and topical information.
